A Book Log
Apparently the work in progress features Jane. I don't if that makes you look forward to it or not.
_College_ is uneven, but fun all the same. Glad you enjoyed it.

Interesting that you find it improves after the opening; when I picked it up a couple of years ago, I bogged down in the first couple of chapters and set it aside. Maybe I'll pick it up again one of these days.

Whereas I liked the "college" part of the book way more than the rest of it. The title is really horribly deceptive. I don't think I'd have been nearly as annoyed if I hadn't gotten all wrapped up in the school story, thinking that that's what a book called A College of Magics would be about.
I also liked When the King Comes Home more than A College of Magics, so I guess the lesson here is that Mike & I do not have similar taste in Caroline Stevermer books.

People seem to split pretty evenly on whether they like _When the King_ or _College_ better. A minority seems to hate one and like the other.
Trent, I'd guess you'd like _When the King_.

Hope so. I've got it sitting on my shelf, waiting (with so many others) for me to get around to it.

Just to chime in, I vastly preferred _College_ over _When the King_.
It's not that I didn't like _When the King_, though. I think I actually hated it.
Kate, by the way, currently reading Lisa Goldstein's _Winter King, Summer Fool_ (or is Summer King, Winter Fool_?). It seems to be a Mannerly book.
